I love painting these beautiful birds, they are so colourful and striking. I have seen a few, mostly at a distance and sometimes as a blur of colour flashing by. The most memorable time was kayaking with my youngest son on the River Stour, drifting under a willow tree, I looked up to see Mr Kingfisher closer to me than ever before; so tiny and delicate!
